The Information Highway

This was clipped out of a newspaper quite a few years ago and probably before the year 2000. The illustration says far more than words ever could.

That highway has since become far busier from always increasing traffic and that dirt road even more overgrown from a lack of use. Nonetheless, in the late 1970's, the only viable means of communication with Kie available was through writing letters by hand.

Kie and I eventually met after writing letters to each other over two years. At the time I thought getting a letter from Indonesia in five days was remarkably fast. Today people meet each other in minutes, hours or days by exchanging instant electronic messages.

The world has certainly changed.
